After a strenuous week we completed the new staircase. Third layer of clay placed on the roof, dense red clay colored twigs made the finish of the porch and the wooden structure also got its red clay paint. >>>

Last weekend visited the Zangla nunnery school on their picnic at the riverside, and payed a short visit to Dzongkul monastery, the birthplace of the essays published by Csoma as Alexander books. >>>

Restoration works have started at Zangla!
2008-08-16The members of the team from left to right: Jigmet Namgyal, (the older son of the King of Zangla), Etienne Samin (architect), Olga Nagy (economist/human relations), Balazs Irimias (architect/project leader), Emese Olosz (structural engineer from the Field Service for Cultural Heritage), Tibor Gulyas (the cameraman if the project) and Gergely Barcza (architect), on the top of Csoma`s Room.
After the warm welcome of the King we started the works on the second day of our arrival.
The last week we completed the architectural survey of the whole building.
We need that for the documentations and to compare the situation before and after the restoration.
we managed to hire the best available construction manager in the area for his knowledge of local materials and craftsmanship, and to coordinate the local labor.
The best carpenter of the village already prepared to our request the wooden frame used for clay bricks, the same old size that we could measure in the palace.
We purchased all the necessary timber for the first phase of the restoration, and placed orders for the special clay used for roff waterproofing, and the natural coloring pigments for the rendering.
The next week we start making the clay bricks, carving the beams and pillars, and restoring the main stairs of the entrance as it has been covered by the ruins of a collapsed wall section.
We are very thankful for the supporting letters and the donations. We make great use of every cent, we plan to publish our budget after returning home on the internet.
The Gallery has been updated, with pictures of the arrival, the King and his son also appears on some of them, with the palace in the background, awaiting restoration. The team during the survey, and surrounded by local kids.
