After a strenuous week we completed the new staircase. Third layer of clay placed on the roof, dense red clay colored twigs made the finish of the porch and the wooden structure also got its red clay paint. >>>

After incredible adventures, the prayer-wheel created by media-artists of Kitchen Budapest has arrived to Zangla.
The restoration continued with less visible but more essential structural intervention.
Csoma`s room has a new floor and a new slab.
Imre Boér, member of the Transylvanian Carpathia Society visited the restoration and volunteered at the site.
During a previous intervention in the last 30 years an oversized beam had been placed in the slab under Csoma`s room. The beam changed the load-bearing direction of the half-slab and cracked both load-bearing walls of the room from ceiling to floor. It threatened the whole Csoma`s wing with collapsing. We managed to remove the oversized and misplaced beam, to fill the cracks and to rebuild the original slab structure with one weeks work.
We also removed the partition wall inside Csoma`s room that had been built by the monks who used to live there in the last 3 decades. This action has restored the conditions visible on Ervin Baktay`s drawing made 80 years ago.
After great expectations the prayer-wheel created by Hungarian media-artists of Kitchen Budapest (Kibu) arrived to Zangla. The King and his wife climbed up to the monastery to consecrate the prayer-wheel right after opening the box with a silk scarf. They carefully read through the 2008 yearbook of the Kibu and they accepted with remarkable open attitude the unusual electro-kinetic wheel probably unique in the Tibetan region.
The consecration ceremony of the installed wheel will be held in the middle of September, lead by lamas and nuns invited by the King. The wheel has been installed and tested in the space of the main entrance hall.
In the last few days windstorms swept every afternoon the walley of Zanskar river at Zangla, that forced us to terminate restoration works early afternoon.
The updated gallery contains pictures of the visit of Imre Boér, the new floor of Csoma`s room, the reconstruction of the slab bellow it, and the arrival of the prayer-wheel.
